  • Experience across a number of industries involving vocational education and training, financial services, building and construction, energy, information technology, engineering, agriculture, sports, leisure, health, government and shared services environments.

  • Experience in developing and implementing culture change and internal communication and change communication projects both nationally and internationally.

  • Experience in both quantitative and qualitative research techniques – trained at advanced level through Master of Arts (Hons) qualification.

  • Managed the Australian subsidiary of Lafferty Group Ltd, London, a publishing company for the financial services sector, with responsibilities for the Australian, New Zealand and Asian markets.

  • Established The Ryder-Self Group in 1989.

  • Led the development of proprietary PACE and OUTPACE methodologies and software to measure organisational and customer dynamics.

 Early background in:

  • Agricultural economic research with Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE)

  • Strategic planning of India’s and Indonesia’s agricultural development (World Bank, with Sir John Crawford)

  • Introducing strategic planning to the Commonwealth Public Service, as a sector wide initiative

  • Corporate Planning with Commonwealth Department of Primary Industries and Energy

 Awards

  • 2000 Customer Satisfaction methodology assisted NSW Department of Public Works & Services to win the public sector Customer Service award from the Australian Institute of Marketing.

  • 2000 The NSW Council on the Cost of Government recognised The Ryder Self Group’s Customer Satisfaction methodology as Best Practice.  This has been further endorsed in 2002.

  • 1997 and 1998 Gold Serif – the nation’s top business award for Communication Research (quantitative and qualitative), Strategy, Implementation and Communication Plan, awarded by the Australian Institute of Professional Communicators.

  • 1997 Award for Excellence for Innovation in Research for “Segmenting for Success – Marketing to Women” awarded by the National Council for Vocational Education Research (NCVER).

  • Provided the concept and research for the winning promotional campaign for Canberra Institute of Technology, which received the 1997 Australian TAFE Marketing Association award.
